Red is a play that uses Mark Rothko’s late period of abstract paintings as a vehicle to ask “what is art?”

The rights to the play dictate that no Rothko art may be used for promotion of the show. So that’s my art.

Rothko wanted the viewer to be consumed by his art. Accordingly, this singular form of expression consumed him. The handwriting is my best attempt to forge Rothko’s; the source is just one scribbled note I found.
